I also remember his grandfatherly imposition of martial law in Berkeley for the better part of a month, and the eventual city-wide Memorial Day parade under the truckloads of heavily-armed National Guardsmen that resulted in its being lifted. For that period, you couldn't have two people "congregating" in public...ah, life in America.</description>
