Vote for the Tom Delay Billboard!

April 18, 2005 at 7:17 pm by K.G. Schneider · 5 Comments ·

By way of Salon.com I found this chance to vote for a Tom DeLay billboard, from Howard Dean’s Democracy for America website. My choice: “When Ethics Get Hammered, The Voter Gets Nailed.” What’s yours?

I had a hard time choosing, but finally ended up with “Corporations spent millions to send Tom DeLay golfing, and all you got was this billboard.” My second choice, had we been allowed one, would have been “Tom Delay: Hammering the Constitution one civil right at a time.” Although there are other government officials for whom that would have been more appropriate. Like the past and present Attorney Generals.

A more useful link to vote would be… http://www.democracyforamerica.com/billboard

Ruth picked the winner: “Corporations spent millions to send Tom DeLay golfing, and all you got was this billboard.”

There were a lot of good slogans. I think I most liked “We appologize for the Delay, public service will resume shortly” but I thought it might be too subtle for a bill board. Some of the others were too long. So, I voted for “America for sale! Call Tom Delay for details.” Of course “Tom Delay: Exterminating Democracy right here in America” ranked pretty high on my list.

My Texas family members liked the “Don’t mess with Texas” slogan when it really applied to litter. They are dismayed by the other ways it has been used lately. However, this might be an appropriate place to play with the slogan. Tom Delay = litter?

All the slogans were good. I personally went with the one of “Education is not my job.” Actually, it seems that to him, a lot of things are not his job, including being an example to others and actually working for his constituents. I will look forward to seeing what the results are.
