We've had RefWorks here at UST since January, and everyone loves it. IMO, an institutional subscription to a citation manager program is a "must have" for academic libraries, probably more important than that last marginal database your institution subscribed to.

Karen, I've been working with RefWorks this week, too, and I figured out how to import citations from, say, a FirstSearch search directly into my RW import folder: have both sites up at the same time (either with tabbed browsing or 2 windows). Click on the option to export to RefWorks from FS. You may have to re-log-in to RW, but I did this several times, and each time the citations came through just fine. I was blown away by the ease of use, and the utility of the product. Very useful for that Research & Evaluation course! ~Amy

Have you tried Refworks with NLMCatalog? I use EndNotes for citation management. Since NLMCatalog is now a link off PubMed, I'm downloading many items from NLMCatalog rather than from LocatorPlus, because like PubMed I can put several items onto a Clipboard for downloading as a batch, which I can't do from LocatorPlus. But there's no filter for NLMCatalog in EndNotes, and I haven't been able to find one anywhere, so my assistant and I have created our own, tweaking it to try to accommodate all of the different reference types (books, edited books, book chapters from edited books, journals, journal issues, journal articles, manuscripts, reports, etc.). It works, but it's still not perfect, and it's necessary to compare the original text file with the EndNote file to ensure that everything is included in the EndNote record and in the correct field.
