I usually read my political mail and file under “nice to do–if I had the time,” but I woke up when I read about the vigils being organized this Wednesday evening on behalf of Cindy Sheehan’s protests.
I have been simmering about this issue since this morning, when NPR read a letter from a listener who accused Cindy Sheehan of opportunism.
When soldiers die, the rest of us become their voices. Good for Cindy Sheehan to press her case about this pointless war and its toll on those who serve. I believe we sometimes go to war for good reason. Iraq hasn’t proved itself to me. We also aren’t going to get young people to serve in our armed forces if they don’t trust our government to only send them into battle for good cause–and to bring them home as soon as possible.
