Many people feel they help keep the focus on the content. <a href="http://themes.wordpress.net/columns/3-columns/1743/vantagepress-blue-13/" rel="nofollow">Vantagepress</a> has most of the same features you have on your homepage, though I'm not completely fond of the color combo. The fun of Wordpress is that you can change themes with a click, I'd look for function first, then get help with the look. I'd be happy to help with customizing a theme if you'd like.
