Do you use Meebo-me or AIM for reference?

October 16, 2007 at 9:28 pm by K.G. Schneider · 20 Comments ·

If you are using Meebo-me or AOL instant messaging for reference at Your Place Of Work, and you will have your chat window open as of 8 a.m. ET this Thursday, October 18, and would be willing if I popped in sometime between 8 and 10 a.m… well, I would be most graceful, that’s what.

I’m doing a 2.0 talk at Williamsburg Regional Library this Thursday (oh hai genevieve kbyethx!) and it would be fun to show Meebo and/or AIM in action.

You can try our library. We open at 9:00am and use both meebo and AIM at the Reference desk.

I won’t be there (I work in Youth), but one of the Adults will be!

I just warned the grown-ups that you might come knocking.

I’m one of those adult librarians (hi, Ruth!) who is scheduled to be on desk on Thursday. I’ll be happy to be on call for your presentation.

Hello Karen, I’m not a library but if you want a trainer and Meebo-fan from the Netherlands, you can try me. Depending on the time of the day you will find me logged in.

We currently use trillian so you can AIM us starting at 8 am at rulibspot. Radford University is in Virginia so you can show the Williamsburg folks that others in the Commonwealth are using this technology. =)

We use Meebo-me and we’ll be on at 8am Central or 9am ET.

This is turning into a wonderful post about librarians!

Karen, you can give the Arlington Heights Memorial Library a try, too. You can AIM us at ahmlquestions. We *should* also have a Wimzi Widget (AIM) up by tomorrow at: http://www.ahml.info/find_information/
(we prefer how it handles URL links over Meebo Me). However, there’s a slight chance it might not be ready yet.

Oops…Karen, I just figured out the times a bit better. We start staffing IM at 9am central, which is just when you’ll be ending.

    Reference

    or
    Children’s Services
    http://www.parkridgelibrary.org/csemail.html

We open at 9:00am Central Time.

If you need to come on earlier or want to show something a bit different, I’ve created some meebo rooms with video content. I use it from time to time for meetings.

Feel free to join me at http://www.meebo.com/room/unflib/

Even if I am not there, 8am is sooo early, you can still come into the room and view the video or even upload something cool.

I’m online via Meebo for sure from 9-10 Central time, but could sign on at 8 (making it 9 ET) if you would like me to. Our site might be particularly noteworthy because the widget is on every page.

Not sure if the website URL went through. If anyone else would like to take a look, check us out at http://www2.iwu.edu/library/

What an embarrassment of riches! Thanks all — I’ll update with a comment tomorrow about what we did.

Yay for Skokie!!! You folks greatly impressed people at Williamsburg Regional Library with your speedy, professional, and friendly response.
