J.T., exactly! See my next post, as well.

Nice hearing from you -- would love to see your list of the differences between the two conferences.

I'm going to resume an old habit of mine of starting a presentation with a 1-minute book talk. A librarian should always be able and willing to do a book talk at the drop of a hat.

Hi FRL, long time reader, first time commenter. I'm an academic librarian and writer, and I enjoy reading about the intersection of your work and your writing. Just attended my first SF convention (I write mostly F/SF), and I've been mentally totting up the similarities and differences between it and, say, ALA Annual. Good times.

As to writers being readers, amen! I regularly read many writers' blogs and am still stunned by the number who don't read. I can understand not reading, say, a neo-noir while you're in the first draft throes of your own neo-noir, but not reading at all...? The mind boggles. Without a steady diet of words, my prose tends to become thin and plaintive.
