Karen, you wouldn't say sending faxes is painless if you had to use the fax machine I have to use. It sends the document impossibly slowly, and at least half the time it can't sustain the connection and times out -- sometimes forcing us to resend two or three times. The day it dies and someone decides it's not worth the hassle to replace I'll be a happy woman.

Thanks for the headsup on the GA job...looks interesting.
As for the GPS, I've resisted so far exactly because it does change the drive. I love the car, the road, the scene and don't necessarily want the distraction of the GPS to muddle that. However, I know people that drive for work/business and some say it takes away some of the fear of the unknown roads for them. That I can see. But the casual Sunday (well, Saturday since I work Sundays) drive? I'd rather get temporarily misplaced. ;)
Have a fun sojourn in NM.

My GPS, a TomTom, is an extension of me..."Simon" and I have driven around a lot of central and western Canada and the US, as well as Scotland, the purpose for which he was bought. Brilliant. And non judgemental (he never says"I told you to turn there, you idiot..."). On the few occasions he is torpid, I feel as if an arm is not working. Like other location awareness technologies, I predict this sort of guidance will be as necessary and common as road signs soon.

Ah but David, sending faxes is painless. It's the whole nonsense of RECEIVING faxes that makes web-faxing a better idea...

Regarding faxes: I find that most people are happy with a PDF sent via email.

For those that think that faxes are somehow more "official", if your computer has a builtin modem that you never use, setting it up as a fax modem isn't very hard under Windows, which is what I did.
