Thank you. I was hysterical when I read this. It is very sad when the airlines think they can (and actually do) get away with what they do. WE can’t carry things ON the plane, yet now we have to pay for them to do what already is (or should be) included in the price of the ticket. Some “experts” say to ship your luggage (as has someone else who commented). Why has it come to this.

After two strongly worded letters to the Delta management team, I have vowed NEVER to fly that carrier again. I watch with disdain the possibility of a merger with anyone else. I suppose I will have to fly less if Delta becomes my only option.

I never got back what they lost on my way home from ALA last year and they refused to reimburse me for it.

You should definitely check out The Gell Center if you are looking for writing retreats; its in the heart of the Finger Lakes. It is run by Writers & Books, an excellent group of writer folk in Rochester, NY. Gell is near lots of wineries, has beautiful lake views, friendly people (being one of those friendly people from WNY, I can vouch for this).

Also, I feel your pain re: misplaced luggage and Delta.

I’ve been thinking about pre-mailing stuff for a couple of longer trips I have coming up. When it’s going to be an extra $50 just for luggage, it’s got to be cheaper to mail it.
