The 2008 reading backlog

The reading backlog

Life is short… I’ll give these titles another try, but if these books are unread a year from now, into the giveaway box they go!

  2. Robin, Sandy has a charity that asks for books — I believe the books literally go to Africa. So they find a good home. BookMooch might be worth looking into, though!

If either reading or finally rejecting _Rising Tide_ puts you in mind of other Katrina reading, try Tom Piazza’s novel _City of Refuge_. Wowie zowie. Weeks later I’m still thinking about some of his people.

  5. Miriam, I’ve been planning a whole post… though perhaps that won’t happen. I set aside lots of reading I had planned and read this book omniverously and hungrily. It is GREAT.

The Namesake movie was fantastic, dunno about the book. I really loved it. And if you don’t want “And then we came to the end” save it for me… I’ll be in your neck of the woods next week. xo

Interesting. Our library book discussion group has read five of those titles. Of those, my favorites were Rising Tide (did I recommend this to you?), Bel Canto, and The Known World. Enjoy! :-)

  8. Vicki, you might have recc’d Rising Tide! I gave it a good start and then got distracted. It’s certainly a good “read.”

Last night I read Elizabeth McCracken’s memoir, An Exact Replica of a Figment of My Imagination… it was great.
