Mea culpa, mea culpa. My 2007 Mini Cooper S convertible had me feeling pretty self righteous with its 38 MPG freeway. But let's face it, Karen and I approach driving from two different viewpoints: my big sister's view is to travel safely and efficiently to a predetermined destination; my approach is more "throw the top down and gun it on a windy road until you don't feel like driving any more." (yes, macho)Certainly Karen's style is better for the environment. As for my sewing machine - I don't know what kind of mileage it gets but maybe someday Karen can teach me to drive that ol' Singer.

There's an analogy I can relate to! Have you looked at sewing machines lately? One person's gewgaw is another person's must-have. I admit that Pfrieda, the Pfaff 1472 I got in 1994, has been very dependable. (Except for the inconsistent buttonholes, which have been corrected in new models...and, as I have come to realize, buttonholes are about one-half of one percent of the sewing that I do.)
