With regards to "music" on the iPhone OS (I have an iPod Touch) there's a big win and a big loss for me, over my previous Nanos.

The win is that it finally has a double-speed button for podcasts - you can get through so much more this way.

The loss is that smart playlists are broken. In many cases (such as if you have a playlist that depends on another playlist) it will only update them when you sync. Quite annoying when you have a "no repeat" type playlist (e.g. last played not in the last two weeks).

Oh, and in combination, it doesn't retain sort orderings. I have two unlistened podcast playlists - one ordered by date and one by length - but they both get the same (apparently random) ordering. Unless I "fix" them by depending on another playlist, in which case the listened ones don't get removed. *sigh*

What Apple does good it does really really good. What it does bad...

way to go on the iphone, big sis. hit the keyboard buttons a tad to the left of center and you'll be spot on. re apps, we use urbanspoon a lot when we're on the road for dining tips. of course, moron test has helped me get through legislative hearings with my sanity somewhat intact...

The world is full of guitarists who can't imagine playing a string instruments without frets, yet the violinists and cellists seem to make do without them :) The more you input, the more the AI will pick up on your Free Range lingo. And since you're moving, you won't have to correct it when you try to spell Publix.

I got pretty fast on a BlackBerry... I think the iPhone is only healthier because the keyboard is so hard to use. ;-) But it's still a cool device.

Thanks for the blurb on liking the iPhone over a Blackberry. I might switch this Spring from a Palm Centro. Let us know if you ever get used to the keyboard and like it. That is what I worry about the most.

Congrats on the iPhone purchase. You'll get used to the keyboard, and it won't cripple your thumbs like a BlackBerry. Type with index and middle finger and before you know it you'll be faster on the iPhone than on a cramped netbook keyboard.
