If you’ve read today’s Library Journal you know the cat’s out of the bag. Michael Gorman has resigned and I have been asked by a coalition of bloggers to run for ALA president.
Making this more complicated is that based on my recent theorizing about improvements to search engines for directory-style engines, Google called with a job offer for a new position, Library Evangelist, designed to build bridges between Google and our profession and as Sergei put it “show the world that Google is not afraid of the L-word.”
I am so oerwhelmed by the choices on my plate I am going to order up a couple of margaritas to steel myself before this afternoon’s talk. What to do, what to do?

Well, dang. Get my hopes up, why don’t you. 🙂
Put a gullible stamp on my forehead! I am just that big of a fan of yours, Karen, that I believed it at first!
Oh man, Karen, you really had me fooled. And I *knew* it was April 1st!!! Sigh.

Ha! This is very funny. I just clicked to this page, from a comment you left on my blog about a post on Michael Gorman, only to find that he just resigned! Well, sort of!
Sill, makes my day.
“What to do, what to do?”
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war! It buys you time.
Oh would that it were true! I guess the folks at LJ *do* pay attention to what swirls around. Actually, would be most excellent if Google had offered you an LE position.
What the world needs now…more laughs. Tx.
They both made sense to me…more than anything else has lately. It was the two margaritas that made me think twice!
The Sun shone for me when I heard that Karen might be moving into the presidency of the ALA. Finally, I thought, as a profession we will no longer have to hang our heads in technological shame.
Darn April Fool’s!
It worried me a little that some of you would think I’d have even one margarita before a big talk. 😉
