Marie graduates a year from now; Alexis and I are Done. We have our MFAs in hand.
Before I began the process to get this degree, when someone said they had a second masters, I just nodded. Whatever. Now I know the secret. The second masters is where you get it right, or do the degree you never got to do, or focus on the other part of your life, the part you don’t dare try to earn a living from but is a part you finally get old enough to acknowledge.
I got by with more than a little help from my friends. Thanks, pals.

Hi Karen:
Happy holidays.
Thanks for the great insights. I have acknowledged your help in my blogging spree.
My 2007 resolution is a friendly deal to get more comments via a give and take path.
Best wishes.
Karen, you’re not only an inspiration, you’re my proof it could be done. (One more semester to go.) Congrats!
Thanks for the “aggregator moment”. I was just feeling bad about getting 95% through my first masters degree and stopping short. I’m an education grad, worked towards a masters in education, but now actually want to switch over to library stuff.
Now I need to go convince my wife.
Congratulations, Karen!
Guess I must start planning on getting my MLS first and then maybe a MA or MFA later. 🙂
Karen, this is great! I’m very happy for you. My MLS is my second masters, so sometimes the second masters becomes the career! Plus, I’m now doing things I really enjoy, so the it was worth the struggle. Good luck!
I think it doesn’t matter whether you do your bidness degree first or second. The key is to have a fail-safe!
Heartiest congratulations from Phoenix!
congrats! not sure i have the energy to go for a second master’s degree anytime soon!
*happy dance of joy*
Hooray, Karen!
Congratulations, KGS! And well done! Rock the neighborhood with your MFA-havin’ bad self!
Congratulations, Karen! I’ve enjoyed following your progress through your program, and especially reading the excerpts from some of your writing. My second masters was a rather stodgy MPA, and while not my passion, it has served me well. Happy new everything!
Congratulations, Karen!
Congratulations! I always used to tell people that they call the MFA a terminal degree because it leads nowhere, but that’s not actually true–it just doesn’t lead to obvious places. But they’re often good (hell, it’s how I ended up in librarianship).
Anyway, good for you, and Alexis, and Marie when she gets there!
