O.k., an irresistable coda to Gormangate, worth sharing on my elevenses tea break. Michael “Tame the Web” Stephens just suggested to me via IM that we all need a button that says:
Blog People
(Although “I See Blog People” occurs to me as a strong second contender…)
Whether you are grievously annoyed by Gorman, a little peeved or embarrassed, secretly or not-so-secretly agree with him, or believe that the world has gone to hell in a basket since the development of the online journal… it would be a funny button. Sales of said button could go to a scholarship or award.

How about, “I blog and I vote (in ALA elections)”?
I like that too. 😉
I’d proudly wear a “Blog Person” (People?) button. Planning to open a Cafe Press shop, Karen? I’ll be your first customer 😉
Hmmm… let’s see where the day takes us or if someone jumps on this idea 🙂
Fabulous idea, particularly I See Blog People. I’d buy one. I’m also picturing an electronic Blog People “button” that could be displayed on one’s site as a badge of honor.
That’s a great idea, Greg. (I really have to figure out how to get this comment box so it doesn’t trail the last entry on the right, which is what I think is happening.) Maybe a little thing that looked like an RSS feed button but in a different color.
I like the way, with proper punctuation, it can be used as a direct command “Blog, people!”
Are you a Blog Person?
Michael Stephens had a great idea today. He suggested distribution of buttons that say “Blog People”. And while I’d certainly buy a physical button, I immediately thought “Why not a virtual button?” So here’s my go at it: I encourage…
I’m In (I’m a Blog Person!)
Well done Greg & Karen!…
I’m In (I’m a Blog Person!)
Well done Greg & Karen! I am loathe to link just to the LJ piece… other suggestions?…
First of all, I like “I see Blog People,” but shouldn’t it really be “I read Blog People?”
Second of all, I think the badget should link to George’s response, “Revenge of the Code People” (http://scanblog.blogspot.com/2005/02/revenge-of-codex-people.html). After all, how perfect to highlight an OCLC employee’s response on an OCLC blog?
Third of all, I think we should pursue the CafePress idea and sell t-shirts, buttons, mugs, thongs, etc., with the proceedings going to buy a full-page ad in “American Libraries” and “Library Journal.” Let’s get some attention on this one!
Might I suggest the ThinkGeek t-shirt http://www.thinkgeek.com/oreilly/tshirts/5eb7/ that say: “I’m blogging this”.
My son wears it to school to confuse his teachers. Should work on Gormanghast types as well.
Please, someone, do this! Michael Gorman’s hitting my library school campus in April, and I just gotta have a button or T-shirt, I just gotta!
Because we all know I’m incapable of reading anything longer than what’ll fit on a button or T-shirt…
Dear Mr. Gorman
Fallout from ALA President-elect Michael Gorman’s comments on bloggers continues.
Even Slashdot and Neil Gaiman (scroll down) have chimed in.
I originally commented on the topic here.

Great idea! I have no graphic skills but the design could be created and sold through Cafepress.com and all the library bloggers could link to it. I certainly would
Ask and ye shall receive. 🙂 I already have a line of librarian t-shirts on my site, and I’ve just added a “Blog People” design. If you like them please feel free to let people know about them.
