My Movable Type installation is still on the evaluation server. I am starting to think that my ISP, Dreamhost, is part of the problem. I mean that both in the macro and micro sense. When I asked them for the path information for these processes, they told me this information was unavailable. But if I grep (search) my account for instances of mt-comments.cgi (the culprit file), I only see one version of this file (as it should be, since I only have one installation of Movable Type).
I plan to upgrade to Movable Type 3.2 as soon as possible, but I’m thinking that after August 6 (when my last essay is due for my summer work) I may change ISPs. I’m happy with Movable Type, I paid for it, and I don’t think it’s the problem.
I’d like to be proven wrong. At least that would be proof of something.

Dear folks, this is user kgs again.
I took down and rebuilt my blog, simplified it dramatically, replaced components (such as mt-comments.cgi), removed additional SQL databases, etc. etc. etc. and have been watching the usage information.
I am now wondering if you’re getting bogus information about my account.
In the past week I have had less than ten comments on my blog. Yet every day I see that mt-comments.cgi is listed twice. Once using up 10-14% of a machine’s resources, and the other time with negligible activity. I have grepped my account and I have exactly ONE installation of mt-comments.cgi.
You can’t tell me the absolute paths for these processes, so I’m supposed to take it on faith that you’re producing accurate information.
I worked pretty hard to troubleshoot things from my end. I’m wondering if you’re willing to ask if your information is truly accurate.
