I have been so busy lately that I complete missed the virulently homophobic “gathering storm” video — until tonight, when I saw it parodied. This video is an uncanny improvement on the original. (My fave: the mom from Massachusetts.)

Really? To me, the parody didn’t seem that DIFFERENT than the original. It’s hard to parody something that’s already so (truly frighteningly) ridiculous itself. It’s like a self-parody. It’s like trying to parody the Bush administration.
I think it could have been funnier if they talked about how they were afraid of heterosexual marriage or something. (Which plenty of straight people are too, come to think of it).
I think it was the “raining gays” visual pun that was so funny (it’s raining men, hallelujah…). I actually prefer this to Colbert’s, though I viewed a few more of these and am amused at how everyone twigged to the same unintentional humor, like the guy with the lisp.
Hee hee! Stephen Colbert made fun of it too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqDyrVha7oI
By the time I got to this, the vid had been pulled from YouTube by FunnyOrDie. So I glanced at their website but there was too much clutter. So I flicked it. I’m sure it was very funny, and I’m sure that they have other stuff that’s funny, but I doubt that I’ll bother to see it, as they’ll now always be a company who just doesn’t “get it” to me.
