(Update: minor style tweaks. I guess I can’t get my own blog right…)
I had just finished taking the picture below of “Harm Saville,” a fragrant, dusky red miniature rose named in honor of grower and breeder Harm Saville (the bud is as big as the tip of my index finger), when a friend pointed me to this article in the Los Angeles Times, which does a great disservice to other rose hybridizers, including the late Harm Saville, by stating without qualification that Moore “single-handedly created the market for [miniature] rose bushes that could grow on a window sill.” I don’t think Moore would agree with the overblown statements in this article. Look at the rose below and see if it doesn’t warrant some over-the-top praise on its own.
