I wanted to chat up Rachel Singer Gordon’s presentation-pricing survey and her subsequent tips for presenters, but I’ve been knackered.
All day–a very long day crossing three time zones–I am in the yoke trying to get MPOW’s new search engine launched, plus this week I am taking 12 hours of training in re said search engine (not counting homework… which is reasonable, since I’m mostly not doing it, either). I was going to give youse folks a sneak peek at the latest iteration, but somebody went in last night and horked up our main page design–it was starting to look scattered, so they just made it more so–so I’ll just sit here and pout. (If you have access to an old version, that’s what it is–old–and you can’t see what we’ve done, as the latest version is on a different IP address.)
I also wanted to repaint the room that will be my office so that I’m not trying to paint it after I have squeezed in a futon, two huge bookcases, a desk and so forth. (I actually prefer a snug, crowded office; we may ditch the futon and go for a loveseat pull-out sofa in the sun room, but I’ll just find a way to fill in the gap in my office if that happens. I, like nature, abhor a vacuum.)
When I explained to the guy at Home Depot that the previous owners had gotten creative with the paint job–green and white stripes with pink squiggles–he rolled his eyes and advised me to start with a primer coat. I dutifully taped for three hours (the room has nice white molding and ceiling, and for once I wanted to get it right) and then got it primed. Tonight… the denouement.
I’d write more but in the next fourteen minutes, before training begins, I need to call two electricians, since I am just imagining what will happen the first time Sandy and I fire up both computers and printers, turn on the dishwasher, and flip on the TV. The wiring in this house is not much different than it was in 1956… the only weak spot in an otherwise well-maintained and well-upgraded home. We got a small concession on the price of the house, thanks to our broker. Separate circuits, here we come!
I’m not sure if I get what you mean in here but I just want to say a few things about re-painting a certain room. Just make sure that you’re already decided on the color of the painting so as not to make everything costly if ever you decide to change into another color.
If the room is a place where you spend most of your time working, please choose light colors. Pastel or any cool colors will do because that adds more to the to-work-more ambiance of the room.
If the room however is just a place where you hardly spend your time in it, make sure that you paint it with something attractive so that every time you come in it’s like that’s your first time; and the first time should always be the best.
